Embroidery
Several years ago I found myself feeling very stressed, and my anxiety was at an all time high. I read a few articles about mindfulness, and the benefits of sewing. So I decided to give it a go – what did I have to lose? I started out making felt plushies from patterns I got on the internet, and loved it. I was encouraged to set up a Facebook page, and I joined a crafting business group which gave me the support I needed to start selling. As time went on, I found myself becoming dissatisfied with the plain plushies, and went looking for ways to embellish them. I came across embroidery…..and the rest is history!
I absolutely fell in love. There is something so very settling and therapeutic about picking up a needle, thread and a bit of fabric, and turning it into something that people enjoy. I am completely self taught, from books, websites or trusty You Tube!
I also discovered all the different types of embroidery – from traditional, to linework, to stumpwork, and possibly my favourite – goldwork! I continue to research new techniques and products, and am still completely in love!
Here is a small gallery of some of my favourite makes. To see my available works, please follow the Etsy link above
